Ron GossRon Goss - SBDC Director at Rogue Community College

Primary Service area - Josephine

Bio - Ron joined the RCC SBDC in September of 2009 as the Business Management Professional coordinating the Small Business Management Program. He assumed his current position of Director in April 2013.

Ron is a graduate of Grants Pass High School. Following graduation Ron attended Stanford University earning a B.S. in Civil Engineering. Professionally, he has over twenty-five years of industry experience with an emphasis in information management, process improvement, team management, and leadership.

Ron’s main focus is to oversee the ongoing programs and services of RCC’s Small Business Development Center, and to serve as RCC’s SBDC general ambassador to the local business community and our many economic development partners.

Ron lives in Grants Pass with his wife Margy and enjoys time spent with their young grandson. He is an amateur bee keeper, who also loves salmon and surf fishing on the Oregon Coast.

DanaDana Jacklin - SBDC Office Administrator at Rogue Community College

Primary Service area - Josephine

Bio - Dana joined the RCC SBDC in September of 2009, working as secretary and office administrator. Dana has spent over 25 years supporting senior executives at companies such as Yahoo!, Salomon Brothers and Merrill Lynch. During her 10 years with tech companies, she was involved in the tremendous growth and subsequent IPO’s of the technology boom.

Dana moved to Oregon from southern California in 2008 to enjoy the positive change of lifestyle and beauty of southern Oregon where her two grown children and extended family now reside. She and her husband spend their time boating and fishing and enjoy the outdoors and camping with family and friends.


 

DaveTallyDave Tally - SBDC Business Advisor at Rogue Community College

Primary Service area - Josephine

Bio - David has been a business advisor with the RCC SBDC since January of 2010, having formerly worked as a trainer and business counselor for SOWAC. David is the owner of Tally Media Group, LLC, here in Grants Pass. He has over 30 years of marketing and business experience, 20 of which were with an international printing franchise company as a development and business consultant. David has sat on many non-profit boards in our local community and is active with the Grants Pass and Medford Chambers of Commerce.

David and his wife have lived in Grants Pass for over 35 years. They have raised 4 children and enjoy spending time with their grandchildren and tandem bicycling throughout southern Oregon.


 

 

DorianDorian Corliss - SBDC Business Advisor at Rogue Community College

Primary Service area - Josephine

Bio - Dorian has worked with the SBDC since 2010 as an SBM and NLP Advisor offering his expertise in financial matters. He has been a CEO of three different banking institutions in the Pacific Northwest, and was instrumental in the formation of two of those banks.

Dorian was born and raised in Medford Oregon and attended St Marys School where he excelled in sports and academics. He then attended Brown University in Providence RI, receiving a B.A. degree in economics. He later attended Rutgers University at the Stonier Graduate School of Banking and graduated with honors, having his thesis published. Dorian developed a water toy, and with two other partners created Water Sports Inc. to manufacture and market the "Dip Stik", a very popular water and rafting toy. He is a sport enthusiast having rafted many of the rivers in the western US and loves to ride his Harley "Ultra" any time he gets the opportunity.

 


 

Steve-SpilkerSteve Spilker - SBDC NLP Business Advisor at Rogue Community College

Primary Service area - Josephine

Bio - Steve is a Business Advisor in SBDC’s Next Level Program (NLP). His efforts are directed at working with traded-sector businesses in the areas of leadership, business development, sales & marketing management, as well as overall business operational efficiencies. In addition to the above, Mr. Spilker works as a Procurement Counselor with the State of Oregon’s Government Contract Assistance Program (GCAP). His main focus at this organization is to educate and train Oregon firms in successfully proposing, negotiating and eventually marketing, a General Service Administration’s (GSA) Federal Supply Schedule (FSS) Program contract. At present, he counsels over 100 local firms with GSA contracts supplying products and services to Federal Agencies around the country including developing their post-contract compliance processes and sales & marketing plans.

As a successful business executive and business owner working in startups, mid-cap, and large multi-national firms, Steve applies his 30+ years of skills, experience, and knowledge to all aspects of his client’s business growth and development needs. He has held various management and ownership positions in the Aerospace, Aircraft Ground Support, Business Consulting, and Consumer Electronics fields over the course of his career.

He earned a B.S. Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in International Marketing from Northern Illinois University. His hobbies are golf, traveling, fishing, reading, and Civil War History (with an emphasis on archaeology and battlefield preservation).

 


 

TimBusaldTim Busald - SBDC Business Advisor at Rogue Community College

Primary Service area - Josephine

Bio - Tim joined the RCC SBDC team in 2012. As a business advisor, he works with a variety of businesses in the areas of leadership, team building, product research and development, sales and marketing, financial analysis, capital formation and operations. In addition, Tim is the program coordinator and instructor for the Avista Entrepreneurship Program at Rogue Community College.

Tim co-founded Bubba Gump Shrimp Company Restaurants, Inc. in 1996 and led the development of the company to become an industry leader in the specialty casual seafood dining segment. During his career, he was responsible for the daily operations through various phases of domestic and international growth.

As President / CEO, Tim led the company through the strategic acquisition of the organization, which has led to continued growth for the business.

He has an extensive background in assessing business needs, strategic planning and providing critical and ongoing input towards brand building and revenue/profit growth for both start-up / small businesses with limited capital and large companies with significant resources. Tim was responsible for a number of revolutionary initiatives related to product development and commercialization, including brand licensing and retail. He has also spent significant time working with international companies in a variety of business areas such as franchise development, procurement and logistics.

Tim's experience in the restaurant industry spans over 30 years. Prior to co-founding Bubba Gump Restaurants, Inc., Tim spent several years at Rusty Pelican Restaurants, Inc., having served as VP of Operations and Purchasing. In addition, he worked with Hyatt Hotels Corporation.

Mr. Busald received his BS degree in Consumer and Family Sciences from Purdue University. He has lived in the Rogue Valley with his family for the past nine years. He enjoys all things water-related from fly fishing to kayaking on the Rogue River.


 

KennyKenny Houck - SBDC Business Advisor at Rogue Community College

Primary Service area - Josephine

Bio - Kenny has been the Business Development Coordinator of the Illinois Valley Business Entrepreneurial Center since it opened at the RCC Kerby Campus in spring 2009. A west coast native, he has nearly thirty years experience as a sole proprietor and owner of a variety of small businesses. He has had a leading role in the Illinois Valley as a project manager and coordinator for several high profile community development projects including the Siskiyou Community Health Center, the IV Airport Industrial Park, Siskiyou Field Institute, the Deer Creek Center for Field Research and Education, and  the Kerby Community Drinking Water System. Projects from 2013 include formation of the Cave Junction Farmers Market and saving Illinois River Forks State Park from closure. He has been a founding board director for four area nonprofits. Equally comfortable in both the public and private sectors, Kenny brings a unique set of skills and perspectives to the success of the Business Entrepreneurial Center as it serves all of rural Josephine County.

Kenny currently sits on the IV Airport Advisory Board and the Friends of the Oregon Caves and Chateau. He and his wife enjoy hiking and biking throughout the northwest, as well as international travels to Mexico and beyond.

 


 

DaveEllisonDave Ellison - SBDC NLP Business Advisor at Rogue Community College

Bio - Dave is a co-founding member of the SBDC NLP (Next Level Program) providing advising services to mid-level (second stage traded sector) companies in Josephine and Jackson counties for the past four years.

Dave’s expertise is in growing companies, markets, and profits. He is a highly successful CEO with an extensive background in Business to Business, Business to Consumer, rapid growth, start up, mid-cap, and turnaround company situations. Dave is a Senior Executive with over 35 years of experience and expertise in leading and growing companies, business planning, strategic initiatives, mergers and acquisitions and P&L responsibilities. He is highly skilled and knowledgeable in business growth, general management, cultural change leadership, employee development, and leadership in turnarounds, rapid growth, and business financial and process improvements. Dave has a proven ability to build (or re-build) organizations, generating profitable growth and achieving market dominance. He is a dynamic leader, strategist, communicator, and team builder.

Dave has a B.S. degree in Business Management and Marketing. He is a native Californian whose professional life has deep roots in the incomparable Silicon Valley. His hobbies include hiking, fishing, hunting, camping, travel, and an unyielding wanderlust for all things new.
